Megan said she doesn't want anymore stories about her. This is it then. The last post. It's been fun. Megan's mom signing out.

Green
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I didn't have any problem waking her up this morning. She was too excited to go to school today. Last night, she had laid out her clothes to wear for today. Not even the cold drizzle dampened her mood this morning.
"Where's your green?" Kasey asked.
Megan unzipped her coat to show Kasey her green shirt. She's not gonna get pinched today but then again, Miss K said, "We're not going around pinching everybody."

run - r u n - run
Megan's pretty good with spelling.
They have started doing this in class. Spelling. Every Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, they have new words they need to memorize. 5 words of the same family (this week, it's the un family. In addition to the 5 words, they have 2 challenge words. That's 17 new words per week.
A couple of weeks ago, one of the challenge words was really challenging for her. It was not just a word, it was "St. Patrick's Day". She complained that this was very hard. She did OK but not entirely correct. She wrote down "st. patrick's day" instead. She forgets to use capital letters a lot of times.
In Kindergarten, it was OK to write in all caps. At the beginning of 1st grade, they were encouraged to use small letters. Now, they have to write properly. She's writing pretty good, too. I can actually understand what she's trying to write. The best part is her reading.
She's really good at reading. Last night, as we were driving home from Karate, she read aloud a sign, "Caution children crossing" and asked what do they mean. I had to laugh, if you think about it, it doesn't make much of a sense. We just got used to that sign that we've taken what it means for granted.

David
Mean ole David.
David is one of the kids in her table. He's half-Filipino and I know this because on their International Thanksgiving Feast, when he saw the steamed rice, he asked his mom for Soy Sauce. ;-)
Yesterday, I was lonely.
Why?
Because it was just me and mean ole David on the table.
Why is he mean?
Because he sings these songs that's mean and nasty.
What song?
We will, we will rock you
Suck you
Punch you in the face
Flush you down the toilet
Hope you like it
(Ha ha ha! I know it's mean but I couldn't help but laugh, that song is too funny.)
Who does he sing it to?
All the girls but he doesn't sing it to the boys. The boys are his best friends.

Dr. Suess
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
To commemorate his birthday, her class brought to school their favorite Dr. Suess book, a stuff toy, and a blanket. They'll be creating a reading nest for their toy using the blanket. She brought Green Eggs and Ham, Teddy (an Irish terrier puppy toy), Jasmine (Hello Kitty toy) and blanket. Her backpack was bulging.
She got to school and some of her classmates were all lined up with their backpacks bulging as well. Chad greeted her with a "Big backpack!" and showed his backpack. Then, they bumped each other's backpack. Cody got in trouble. He was sent to stand alone next to the rail by the door. Poor kid. He alway gets in trouble.

first kiss
Mommy, once, me and Joey kissed...
What? When did that happen?
Yeah, in my closet, when we were moving to Worlington.
How did you kiss?
I don't want to tell you.
Why?
Cause, you're gonna say, "Ooooiiii!"
No, I'm not gonna do that.

progress report 1.2
Second Quarter Comments
"Megan enjoys small group work and works well independently. She has a happy, cooperative attitude toward school and learning. She is a very kind, helpful child and has an ability to get along with both peers and adults. One area she needs to work a bit on is selfcontrol, as at times, she is visiting with neighbors instead of working on the task at hand."

birthday
Happy 7th birthday, Megan! The day is about to end, she had a good day at school and the brownies were a hit with her class. The scene this morning at school:
Cody: What you got there? (referring to the bag Megan was carrying)
Megan: Only girls are allowed to see.
Cody: C'mon...
Megan: OK, you have to guess. It starts with a B and it's brown. (Hehehe)
Cody: BROWNIES!!! I love brownies.
She was feeling pretty special today! See, at the start of the day, the principal greets birthday celebrants over the PA system. And, she gets to wear a birthday crown all day long. She won't even take it off on our walk home. Then, during snack time, she gave out the brownies that she helped make. We made 2 trays and they're all gone. Ms. C said it was delicious. I wonder what she would have said if we made the Ghirardelli double fudge brownie mix.
We had dinner at Popeye's (her choice). Then, we asked her what she wanted as a present and she said, "Anything, as long as it doesn't cost too much money." I don't know why but she's doing that a lot. We used to give her monetary reward but she said not to do it anymore cause she doesn't want to waste my dollars.
She's asleep now, she can't wait for Saturday.

Where was you?
Meg went back to school on Friday. She woke up really early, 4:30 early. She was so excited to go back to school. She kept asking me if it's morning yet. Finally, 7 came and she got ready for school.
We walked to school and we got there early and saw Journey and Alexia. Alexia let out a scream, "MEGAN!" and they started exchanging hugs. (So cute!)
Alexia: I missed you!
Journey: I missed you, too!
Megan: I missed you, too!
Alexia: We all missed you!!!
Journey: Where was you?
Yeah, a whole lot of missing going on.

monsters
Poor kid! She was playing a Scooby Doo Game in Yahooligans! when all of a sudden she cried out in horror, came running to me, and started balling her eyes out. There's a monster in the computer. she cried and I could not get her to stop, she was seriously scared!
What happened was... Scooby Doo is locked in a museum, you have to solve puzzles and what-not to get Scooby out. There was a tomb in the middle of the room and upon prying it open, the screen went dark and a message came, M was trying to read the message and then all of sudden this skeletal grayish face with hollow eyes popped up accompanied by a loud eerie scream! It scared the living daylights out of me.
I closed that game and asked her if she wanted to go to barbie.com instead and she nodded, still sobbing. My heart is pounding and I'm trembling! I've never seen her so scared in her life.

chores
We have decided to give her chores. It's really very simple.
1. Make her bed in the morning.
2. Do her homework when she gets home.
3. Set the table for dinner.
4. Put away her toys before bedtime.
5. On weekends, clean her room.
She whines when we ask her to do these things. "I hate doing these everyday." We're hoping that time will come where she will just do it on her own.

room make-over
She wants, surprise, surprise, a princess room.
Unfortunately, we can't paint the walls so no pink walls, but her curtains are pink. She wants a canopy over her bed, the sheer-type, the one that Aunt A had in her old bedroom (hint, hint). She wants her furniture painted white. Not going to happen. Maybe, I should just see if I can get her new bedroom furnishing, the white ones with hand-painted details. NO, too expensive. Anyways, her walls are so bland, I don't think white furniture is going to work. I'll sew new cases for her throw pillows. And look for a shaggy area rug! Not much of a princess room.
